Area(s) of expertise within ocean sciences: I have extensive experience in satellite algorithm development, and optical instrumentation and measurements. I have developed and validated new multispectral and hyperspectral coastal ocean color algorithms, and transitioned satellite products to both the Navy and CASIS.
I have been involved on numerous interdisciplinary oceanographic programs funded by the NAVY, NASA, and CASIS, with responsibilities for development of science objectives, analysis/synthesis of results, project milestones, personnel, and budgets. My current research interests include optical algorithm development, atmospheric corrections, cloud-shadows, fluorescence, sea-ice, uncertainty analyses, optical detection and classification of Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB), coastal hypoxia, and development of emerging capabilities linking observational data (satellite, aircraft, ship, gliders, moorings).
