5K Fun Run

Join your colleagues on Thursday for the Ocean Sciences 5K Fun Run. The course is within walking distance from the conference center and follows a scenic run along the waterfront before turning up Esplanade Avenue and eventually returning along the same route. Participants will receive a Fun Run Mug from which to enjoy drinks during the meeting, and all proceeds will go towards improving the water quality, coastline, and habitat of the local Lake Pontchartrain Basin. Visit the Registration area for more information and to receive your pre-race packets. Entrance Fee: $30 USD and includes a mug with the Race Logo  and timing chip.

To help report on newsworthy scientific findings presented at the Ocean Sciences Meeting, a Press Room is available for reporters, press officers, bloggers and others to work and mingle.

Child Care

A childcare program will be provided to attendees with children during the entire week of the meeting. Child care services are a contractual agreement between each individual and the child care company. Meeting organizers assume no responsibility for the services rendered.

General meeting information is available here. Lost and found items will be held here until the end of each day after which items will be taken to the Meeting Services Booth. Attendees cannot be paged. It is recommended that messages be left at the attendee’s hotel.

If you received your name badge in the mail, don’t forget to bring it with you to the convention center, level 1. Attendees must register and wear their conference badge while attending all Ocean Sciences Meeting functions. If you did not receive your name badge in the mail, visit any Pre-Registration counter on level 1 of the convention center listed above to pick up your badge materials.

Registered attendees may also register a guest or spouse at a charge of $125. A guest is a spouse, friend, or adult child (18 years old and older) who is not working in a geophysical sciences–related occupation or field. A colleague or associate working in a related geophysical sciences field or studying geophysics in school may not register as a guest. Registered guests may not attend the scientific sessions, including the Poster Hall. Guests may visit the Exhibit Hall and purchase tickets to social events at the advertised rates.

Special Needs
Meetings staff will work with its vendors to provide reasonable support to anyone with special needs. If you require special assistance during the meeting, contact the Meeting Services Booth on level 1, Lobby B1.
