Press Registration

Online press registration for the Ocean Sciences Meeting is now open. We encourage all press registrants to register online. For press registration eligibility requirements, please visit the Press Registration Eligibility Requirements page.

Press registrants receive, at no charge, a badge that provides access to all scientific sessions, the press room, and the press conference room. Some events and activities, including but not limited to invitation-only events and communications workshops, are not open to press badge holders.

NOTE: Audio recording, photography, or video recording are not allowed in scientific sessions or in poster halls.

Members of the press can make hotel reservations through the online press registration site. You will need to submit your press registration before booking a hotel room. However, it is not required to wait for press registration approval before booking a hotel room. The deadline to book a hotel room in order to receive the special AGU room rate is Wednesday, 17 January, 2018.

Please visit the Ocean Sciences Meeting housing page to see a list of hotels offering the special AGU room rate, as well as their rates and locations. However, press must register and book housing via the press registration site, and not from the Fall Meeting housing page. Please use this page as a reference only.

Scientific Program

The full scientific program for the 2018 Ocean Sciences Meeting is now searchable online. To search, click on the search button at the top, right-hand corner of the online program. Click on “Advanced Search” to search by session, paper, person, primary topic or other criteria. To browse all sessions, click on the Primary Topic link on the left-hand side of the search engine. Scientific, education and policy sessions will cover wide-ranging topics such as ocean-land connections, renewable energy, climate change, marine biodiversity and more.

Press Room

AGU provides a Press Room where registered reporters, press officers, bloggers, and others can work and mingle. In the Press Room—and in an online Virtual Press Room —AGU will make available copies of press releases about developments in the Earth and space sciences and other news presented at the meeting.

Quiet Rooms

During the meeting, registered members of the press will be able to reserve quiet rooms to conduct interviews. Reservations are given in 30-minute increments for up to one hour at a time, and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Press Conferences

AGU will also offer a series of press events, including press conferences about newsworthy scientific advances. A schedule of press events will be announced about a week before the meeting’s scientific sessions begin. Reporters can remotely participate in Ocean Sciences Meeting press conferences via webstreaming. Information about how to sign up and access this feature will available in January 2018.
